geography
Poggio a Caiano is 9 km south of the provincial capital Prato . The place is in the climatic classification of Italian communities in zone D, 1 732 GG. One of the most important bodies of water in the municipality is the Ombrone Pistoiese , which flows through the place over a length of two kilometers.
The districts include Bonistallo, Petraia, Poggetto and Santa Cristina in Pilli.
The neighboring municipalities are Campi Bisenzio ( FI ), Carmignano , Prato and Signa (FI).
Attractions
In Poggio a Caiano Lorenzo il Magnifico had Giuliano da Sangallo build the splendid Villa Medici from 1485 , which is now open to the public.
