It was founded on January 1, 2001 and is headed by Lucyna Olborska.

As part of the European Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008 (Article 4 Paragraph 1), all EU member states had to designate a single national accreditation body from January 1, 2010. This is the PCA for Poland.

The way in which the Accredia works is checked through peer review. The basis for this are the multilateral recognition agreements (EA-MLA, IAF-MLA and ILAC-MRA). The Accredia is a member of the European Cooperation for Accreditation (EA).
