BELAC

The BELAC ( acronym of Bel cal Ac creditatie-instelling ) is the national accreditation body of the Kingdom of Belgium . It is the Belgian counterpart to the DAkkS in Germany and subordinate to the Belgian Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Founding history

In Belgium the structure of accreditation was introduced by the law of July 20, 1990. On January 31, 2006, BELAC was founded by royal decree. As part of the European Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008 (Article 4 Paragraph 1), all EU member states had to designate a single national accreditation body from January 1, 2010. For Belgium this is BELAC.
