Poppitz is a district of the large district town Rochlitz in the Saxon district of central Saxony . The place was incorporated on July 1, 1950.

Geographical location

Poppitz is located in the northern Rochlitz city area. The development of the place is only separated by the Frelsbach, a tributary of the Zwickauer Mulde , and the disused railway line Rochlitz – Penig from Rochlitz. Federal highway 7 and federal highway 107 run through Poppitz .

Noßwitz was mentioned in 1378 as "Popwicz" or "Popewicz". Regarding the manorial rule , Poppitz belonged to the parish of Rochlitz in 1548 and from 1764 to 1856 as an administrative village to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Rochlitz . Ecclesiastically, the place has always been parish to Rochlitz. The offices were dissolved during the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony in the 19th century . As a result, Poppitz came under the administration of the Rochlitz court office in 1856 and transferred to the newly established Rochlitz administration in 1875 .

On July 1, 1950, it was incorporated into Rochlitz. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, Poppitz was affiliated as a district of Rochlitz to the Rochlitz district in the Chemnitz district (renamed Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Rochlitz from 1990 and in 1994 in the newly formed district Mittweida and rose in 2008 in the district of central Saxony.
