Oliver Posniak (born July 12, 1957 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Posniak began his professional career at FSV Frankfurt in the 2nd Bundesliga , after having previously worked for SV 07 Raunheim and Germania Niederrodenbach. He made his second division debut for FSV as a 20-year-old on August 6, 1977 against KSV Baunatal . In his first game, he also scored his first professional goal in the 18th minute to make it 1-1 (final score 4: 2 for Baunatal). Posniak immediately became a regular player for the Hessians. In 1980 the FSV almost relegated and Posniak switched to the more successful league competitor SV Darmstadt 98 .

He was also part of the regular staff at the “Lilien” team and promptly rose to the Bundesliga with Darmstadt as the second division champion under the aegis of coach Werner Olk . There, however, the limits were shown and the direct relegation followed. Oliver Posniak played 33 of 34 games that season (one goal), which should remain his only in the top German division.

In the following years, SV Darmstadt often found itself in the no man's land of the table. 1986/87 reached a single-digit place in the final table for the first time since 1983 with a 4th place. Over the years, Oliver Posniak has been a permanent member of the "Lilien" team and has never played fewer than 33 games in one season in his entire time in Darmstadt. He was also the team captain of the Blue and White.

In 1987/88 Darmstadt had managed to take third place under coach Klaus Schlappner , which meant that they had to compete with Bundesliga club Waldhof Mannheim in the relegation . After a 3-2 home win in the first leg (one goal and a preparatory work by Posniak) and a 1-2 defeat in the Südweststadion , the former home of Waldhof, the playoff was played on a neutral pitch ( Ludwigsparkstadion , Saarbrücken ). After it was still 0-0 after extra time, there was a penalty shoot-out, in which Oliver Posniak immediately missed the first penalty. In addition to him, Karl-Heinz Emig and Willi Bernecker also shot , so that Darmstadt left.

After this season, SV Darmstadt lost contact with the top of the table and was temporarily even in a relegation battle in the following season with the three coaches that season, Werner Olk , Rainer Scholz and Eckhard Krautzun . In 1989 Posniak's contract also expired and he had signed a contract early with Viktoria Aschaffenburg , Darmstadt's league competitor. In the end, however, Aschaffenburg was relegated and the contract was invalid because it was only valid for the 2nd division. Darmstadt 98 offered him a contract extension, but with significantly reduced salaries, so that Posniak switched to Viktoria Aschaffenburg and signed an amateur contract. After a total of 403 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, which put him in 9th place among the most frequently used players in this division , he was no longer under contract as a licensed player. Because in his three years with Viktoria Aschaffenburg, the return to the second class did not succeed. In its last season, 1991/92, the team was Hesse champion, but could not make the leap into League 2 .

In 1992/93 at FC Italia Frankfurt and from 1992 to 1997 at VfR 19 Limburg, he let his career end. At Limburg he replaced Michael Blättel as coach during the 1996/97 season and was thus player-coach for a short time.

In 1998 he coached the A-youth of SV Darmstadt 98 , his long-term club, as a player. However, he was fired after differences with the head of the youth department.

Private

Since the end of this coaching engagement, Posniak has dedicated himself to chess and tennis, both in a club, and still plays football in a leisure team. He is also in the squad of the traditional SV Darmstadt team.

Oliver Posniak is married and has two daughters. He is currently a teacher at a vocational school.
