Prießen ( Lower Sorbian : Brjazyna ) is a district of the town of Doberlug-Kirchhain in the Elbe-Elster district in Brandenburg .
Geographical location
Prießen is located on the L702 about 10 km west of Doberlug-Kirchhain between Buchhain and Dübrichen in the center of the Elbe-Elster district.
history
Local history
The place was first mentioned in 1329 as Prizin . Other spelling of the place name were 1336 Priszne , 1380 Priezin , 1386 Pryssen , 1435 Prissen , around 1435 Brewssin , 1541 Priessen , 1546 Brisen and 1683 Prisenn . The original place name is interpreted as a settlement of Priša or Pricha .
In 1329, Elector Rudolf I sold the village to the Dobrilugk Monastery , who owned the village until 1541. In 1529 there were 19 Hüfner in the village . At that time the church was a branch of Buckowien .
Incorporation
On October 1, 2001, the village was incorporated into the town of Doberlug-Kirchhain as a district.

Culture and sights
In the village, which is laid out as a rectangle, there is a listed granite square church from the 13th century on the village meadow. The steeple made of boulders is as wide as the nave. The church is equipped with a carved altar from the 15th century, a pulpit from 1592 and a baptismal font made of sandstone in the shape of a chalice.
