Local history

There is a Bronze Age hill field grave near the village . Nexdorf was first mentioned on December 20, 1300 as "Nicransdorf" . It would also be possible to assign a document from 1272 de Niczrazen . Other spellings of the place name were 1329 Nicrazstorf , 1431 Nyckesstorf , 1531 Nicklasdorf , 1541 Nexsdorff, Neckstorff . The place name can be interpreted as the village of Nikras . The Sorbian place name was first mentioned in 1918 by Arnošt Muka .

In a document that has survived (undated, until around 1311), the Dobrilugk monastery bought joint usage rights to the new mill in Wahrenbrück from Otto IV von Ileburg. The age of the medieval Landwehr is unknown . In 1329, Elector Rudolf I sold the place to the Dobrilugk Monastery, who owned the village until 1546.

In a statistical report from the Electoral Saxon Office Dobrilugk from 1723 a church and fifteen Hufen are mentioned.

The village was destroyed in a fire in 1816. The half-timbered church with a wooden tower, which is still preserved today, was built in 1817. The place is laid out in a horseshoe shape around the church. Originally, Nexdorf was probably a Rundling . The church was a branch of Buckowien . Later the school and a syringe house were built on the village square. In the interest register of the Dobrilugk office from 1740 a mill was mentioned, but it only existed for a few decades. In the second half of the 19th century, a water mill was built in the place. This mill had an overshot water wheel about two meters in diameter and one meter wide. At the mill there was a pond as a water reservoir for the mill operation. An electric motor was later installed, which could ensure the grinding operation when there was a water shortage. The drainage was disturbed by renovation work in the 1960s, which ultimately led to the mill being shut down. The mill was sold in 1992 and has since been left to decay.

In 1973/73 the new parish cemetery was inaugurated. The construction of a water pipe began in 1976. Until December 31, 1998 there was a measuring point of the Potsdam weather office in Nexdorf.
