description
Vegetative characteristics
Prumnopitys species are trees that can grow to heights of 60 meters. The bark is smooth and reddish to yellowish-brown, inside a little darker but turning gray due to the weather. On older trees, the bark breaks into irregular, more or less square plates that are 3 to 5 millimeters thick and 3 to 10 centimeters tall. The leaf buds are small and protected with overlapping triangular bud scales . The leaves are arranged in a spiral on the branch.
Generative characteristics
Prumnopitys species are dioeciously segregated ( diocesan ). The male cones stand individually or in groups. The seeds are surrounded by an aril .
