Qanisartuut [ qaniˌsɑˈtːuːt ] (according to the old spelling K'anisartût ) is a Greenlandic shepherd settlement in the district of Qaqortoq in the municipality of Kujalleq .

location

Qanisartuut is located in the Tasikuluulik Lake District (Vatnahverfi) and is right on the north coast of Tasersuaq Lake . The nearest shepherd settlements are Tatsip Ataa 2.6 km west and Tasilikulooq 3.6 km east. The next bigger place is Igaliku 18 km north. The settlement, which has existed since the 1940s, is one of the earliest shepherd settlements of Tasikuluulik. It is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kujataa and has ruins of the Grænlendingar . Qanisartuut is also the only Greenlandic shepherd settlement without village status with a protected building.

Population development

The population of Qanisartuut has fluctuated between three and eight people in recent decades. The last known population of the shepherd settlements was for 2013. Qanisartuut is statistically listed under "Farms at Eqalugaarsuit".
