The Audi Sport GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Audi AG. The company, called quattro GmbH until the end of 2016 , was founded in 1983 and has been independent since 1996. Audi Sport is responsible for customizing every Audi model - and not just sporty - according to customer requirements. Certain equipment packages are called S line , special productions also called Audi exclusive . The first independent project of the then quattro GmbH was the Audi S6 Plus , which was presented in March 1996. The company is based in Neckarsulm.
history
The company was founded in 1983 as a 100 percent subsidiary of Audi AG. The business purpose was initially the trade in high quality accessories (focus: high quality leather series). After 1993, the business areas were expanded: the boutiques in the delivery centers were expanded and vehicle customization was added. Audi Sport GmbH has also been operating as an independent vehicle manufacturer ( S and RS models ) since 1996 . The first project was an Audi S6 in March 1996. Audi Sport GmbH is the counterpart to Volkswagen R GmbH .
Audi S / RS models have been sold under the name Audi Sport since 2015 , but they are still being built by Audi Sport GmbH.
In November 2016, quattro GmbH was renamed Audi Sport GmbH.
Overview
The modifications will be carried out in Neckarsulm. The Audi models are delivered there from the plants or brought there by the customer. With the Audi S6 Plus , quattro GmbH registered their first specially processed car in March 1996.
The company employs a total of around 830 people, most of whom come from Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm. In 2005 it recorded a pre-tax profit of 35 million euros and in 2006 sales of around 500 million euros.
The vehicle divisions are divided into the sub-area of the production of RS vehicles such as the Audi R8 . Audi Sport GmbH is also responsible for the accessories division called S line , which is a name for the sporty equipment of the various Audi models. In addition to sport suspensions and aerodynamic add-on parts, this also includes sporty equipment packages in the interior. However, the engine output is independent of this.
Audi Sport GmbH has a 19.94% stake in FC Ingolstadt 04 Fußball GmbH .
