Roman forces in Arabia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Roman armed forces in Arabia ( Latin exercitus Arabicus ) consisted of the legions and auxiliary troops stationed in the Roman province of Arabia Petraea after the annexation of the Nabatean Empire by Trajan around 106 AD .

In the course of the administrative and army reform under Emperor Diocletian , the provinces of the Roman Empire were redistributed and combined into twelve dioceses (see list of Roman provinces from Diocletian ). According to the Notitia Dignitatum , the province of Arabia was part of the Dioecesis Orientis .
