Rafael Hettsheimeir (born June 16, 1986 in Araçatuba ) is a Brazilian basketball player . He plays on the position of the center .

Career

Rafael Hettsheimeir began his professional career in the 2003 season at COC / Ribeirão Preto. In his first year he won the Campeonato Paulista (São Paulo State Championship) with his club . In 2005, the 19-year-old Hettsheimeir moved to Spain and signed for Akasvayu Girona , but played on loan in the third division for CB Vic in 2005/06. In 2007, CB Estudiantes secured his services, but loaned him to the second division club Plus Pujol Lleida . In his two seasons with the Catalans, he averaged 5.2 rebounds and 11.1 points per game.

For the 2009/10 season Hettsheimeir signed for the also second-rate CAI Zaragoza , but was awarded to Xacobeo Blu: sens from November 2009 to February 2010 to replace the injured Drago Pašalić . On November 15, he made his debut with the Galicians in the ACB league , convinced immediately, played his way into the starting five and achieved 9.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in eleven inserts. After the loan period, Hettsheimeir returned to Zaragoza, with whom he finished the season as champions of the second division and rose to the ACB league. He was able to confirm his good performances in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons and developed into one of the discoveries of the ACB league. In October 2012, Hettsheimeir signed for the Spanish top club Real Madrid . With the Spanish record champions, he reached the final of the Euroleague and won the championship . After the season ended, Hettsheimeir moved to Unicaja Málaga .

National team

Rafael Hettsheimeir made his debut for the Brazilian national basketball team in 2005 and won the gold medal with her at the American Basketball Championship in the Dominican Republic in the same year . Also in 2011 he played for the continental title with his country, but lost the final 75:80 against hosts Argentina . Hettsheimeir achieved 9.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game over the course of the tournament. Due to a knee injury, he was unable to take part in the 2012 Olympic Games in London .
