Ramón Malla Call , in Catalan Ramon Malla i Call (born September 4, 1922 in La Seu d'Urgell , † April 18, 2014 in Lleida ), was Bishop of Lleida .

Life

Ramón Malla Call attended the seminars in Urgell and Barcelona. He studied theology at the Pontifical University of Salamanca and Canon Law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on December 19, 1948 in Salamanca .

From 1949 to 1967 he worked in various parish and diocesan offices in the Archdiocese of Barcelona. In 1967 he was appointed Permanent Representative in the Principality of Andorra by the Diocese of Urgell and appointed Vicar General.

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Lleida on July 24, 1968 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Spain , Luigi Dadaglio , donated him episcopal consecration on October 27, 1968 in the Cathedral of Lleida ; Co- consecrators were Gregorio Modrego y Casaus , Archbishop Emeritus of Barcelona , and Ramon Iglésias Navarri , Bishop of Urgell .

After Ramon Iglesias Navarri's retirement, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Urgell diocese, which he remained until Joan Martí Alanís' was appointed Bishop of Urgell in 1971. On October 29, 1999, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

Ramón Malla Call was in the Spanish Bishops' Conference from 1978 to 1984, a member of the Commission for Mission and Cooperation of the Churches (1974–1984), a member of the Episcopal Commission for Bishops and Superiors (1984–2002), a member of the Economic and Legal Council ( 1969-1978). He was a member of the Economic Council from 1978 to 1993 and was head of the Bishops' Council for Legal Affairs from 1993 to 2002.
