Regional Council (Namibia)
The regional councils ( English Regional Councils ) are the district administrations of the 14 regions of Namibia . Each region has a regional consisting of the regional members which from the respective constituencies (English constituency ) are selected. Each regional council has as many members as there are constituencies in the region.
As a regional council member (English Regional Councilor ) is the name of the holder of this council membership. This corresponds roughly to the tasks of a main administrative officer ; This body is chaired by the regional governor, who has not been elected since 2010, but has been appointed by the Namibian president . Regional councils are politicians and usually run the business of day-to-day administration.
From each of the 14 (currently - as of October 2013 - only 13 due to the regional reform) regional councils, two (from 2015 three) regional council members are appointed to the National Council in Windhoek .
