The Remarkables Conservation Area is a protected area in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand . The area is under the Department of Conservation .
geography
The Remarkables Conservation Area is located east of the southern portion of Lake Wakatipu , about 6 miles southeast of Queenstown . The Conservation Area covers most of the up to 2307 m high mountains The Remarkables , which extend here on the southeast side of Lake Wakatipu for around 12.5 km to the north.
