René Franz von Boch , from 1907 from Boch-Galhau (born September 27, 1843 in Mettlach , Merzig-Wadern district , Saarland ; † December 12, 1908 in Mettlach) was a German entrepreneur and partner of Villeroy & Boch Ceramic Works in the fifth generation as well royal Prussian secret council of commerce .

He received the Prussian name and coat of arms association with "Galhau" on June 19, 1907 in Kiel with a diploma from September 14, 1907 at Wilhelmshöhe Castle near Kassel .

family

Boch came from an old merchant family from Audun-le-Tiche ( Moselle department in Lorraine ), his grandfather Jean-François Boch (1782–1858) founded the company Villeroy & Boch Ceramic Works seven years before René was born. René is the son of the secret commercial councilor Eugen von Boch (1809–1898), then head of the family business and a member of parliament . His mother was Oktavie geb. Villeroy (1823–1899), a granddaughter of co-founder Nicolas Villeroy, who died in the year he was born .

He married on February 18, 1873 in Sandweiler ( canton Luxembourg ) Marie b. Pescatore (born September 7, 1847 at Gut Scheid, Luxembourg ; † December 23, 1929 at Gut Wallerfangen , Saarlouis district ), the daughter of the industrialist in Luxembourg and landowner Guillaume Bonaventura Pescatore, landlord on Scheid, and Anne Marie Victorine, nee. Gericke. The connection resulted in two sons and two daughters, Roger (1873-1917), Luitwin (1875-1932), Paula (1878-1959) and Martha (1880-1961).

The Linslerhof estate near Überherrn (today in the Saarlouis district) had been owned by Louis Henri Fulbert de Galhau, who was born with Sophie Villeroy, daughter of Nicolas Villeroy, was married. Since their only son Nicolas Adolphe de Galhau , married to his cousin Sophie Leonie Elisabeth, geb. Villeroy (1821–1885), the last bearer of the name Galhau to remain childless, bequeathed the farm to his brother-in-law , René's father Eugen. Linked to this, however, was the requirement to extend the name “von Boch” to “de Galhau” in the future. This name and coat of arms association was finally approved in 1907.

René von Boch's youngest daughter Martha married Franz von Papen (1879–1969) on May 3, 1905 . The dowry of the wealthy company heiress considerably expanded the possibilities of the prospective professional officer, who had just graduated from the cadet school, to a befitting and luxurious life. For example, Papen was now able to pursue his passion for equestrian sport independently of wealthy racing team owners. Boch was fascinated by the imperial military system and urged his son-in-law Papen to undergo training as a general staff officer in Berlin. So Papen served in his five-year training period at the 1st Guards Regiment of Uhlans in Potsdam and went after the military-diplomatic service one.

Life

In 1888 Boch was a co-founder of the local association of the German Red Cross in Mettlach: On June 29, 1888, at a general assembly of the workers' pension fund , Boch gave the chairman of the "Antonius Brotherhood", M. Mannebach , the task of establishing a company among officials and workers To advertise medical corps. After a short time 11 men from each of the two factories, i.e. 22 people, responded to this call.

From 1889 to 1908 Boch was mayor in Wallerfangen . In 1907 he ran in the constituency of Saarburg - Merzig - Saarlouis for the National Liberals in the Reichstag elections .
