Resau is a residential area in the Bliesendorf district of the city of Werder (Havel) in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg . Resau was built before 1580 as a farm on the field of the deserted medieval village of Lütkendorf . In 2012, eleven people lived in Resau.

Geographical location

Resau is located in the southern part of the district of Bliesendorf in the southwest of the urban area of Werder (Havel), 3.3 km as the crow flies southwest of the center of Bliesendorf and 3.7 km northeast of Emstal (district of the municipality of Kloster Lehnin ) in the middle of a larger forest area ( Bliesendorf Heide / Plessower Heide).

history

Resau was first mentioned in 1580 ( Risow ). At that time it was a sheep farm that was run by a tenant shepherd with two shepherds. The Vorwerk belonged to Hans (XIII.) V. Rochow (1550-1622), who in 1577 had taken over his father's goods. Whether the Vorwerk from him or already from his father Hans (X.) v. Rochow (1529–1569) is not known. Resau was built on the field mark of the village of Lütkendorf , which had become desolate after 1450 . The desert village is located east of today's residential area on the border with the Ferch district.

The meaning of the name or the origin of the name is unclear because of the very late evidence. Reinhard E. Fischer discusses a possible Polish origin of basic forms such as Rysov = lynx or Rězov = incision, notch. The voiced z in German speaks against the first possibility, the conversion of the e into an i (after the first reference) against the second possibility. A derivation from German to Middle Low German ouwe (e) , water-rich, fertile land, Aue is also conceivable.

In the Thirty Years War the Vorwerk was destroyed, in 1652 it was "desolate and desolate". It was rebuilt by the middle of the 18th century. By 1805, three Büdner and seven "Einlieger" had settled. The place had eleven fire pits and 44 residents. It belonged to Chamberlain Friedrich Ludwig von Rochow zu Plessow . In 1817 the then cavalry master and later lieutenant colonel and court marshal Hans Karl Dietrich von Rochow was the owner of Resau. In 1837 there were nine houses in which 69 people lived. From now on the number of inhabitants decreased. In 1858 eight residential buildings and 16 farm buildings were counted, in 1895 there were still 17 residents living in six residential buildings. Around 1900 the Vorwerk Resau was converted into an estate forestry. In 1928 the manor district was dissolved and the forestry department was now run as the Resau district forestry department. Around 1973 the forest district was relocated to Göhlsdorf . It is still called the Resau district forester today.

Political history

When it was first mentioned in a document in 1580, Resau belonged to the family v. Rochow or at that time Hans (XIII.) V. Rochow. There is evidence that Niekammer's goods address books remained in the possession of this family until the 20th century. The jurisdiction was exercised by von Rochow until 1872. It then belonged to the manor or parish Kammerode . The parish and manor district was merged with Ferch and then with Bliesendorf in 1928 . In 1931 and 1937 Resau was a residential area of Bliesendorf. Today Resau is a residential area of the city of Werder (Havel) on the boundary of the Bliesendorf district.

The ghost of Resau

In the years 1888/1889 the ghost of Resau occupied the police and authorities. In Resau pots, a funnel, a frying pan and ham bones flew through the air in an inexplicable manner. Windows were thrown in and stones were thrown at cows without anyone being observed. The witnesses of the "haunt" were mostly elderly people, but also a Pastor Dr. Müller, who described the strange trajectories of the projectiles. The incident also called Berlin “spiritualists” on the scene and resulted in several publications. Soon the suspicion fell on the farm boy Karl Wolter. He made himself suspicious of making fun of the incidents while those affected by the "haunt" were utterly appalled. It was only haunted when he was present or at least in Resau. Nothing could be proven to him directly and he did not confess, but the district court in Werder (Havel) sentenced him to 14 days in prison and four weeks in prison in January 1889. The court found that "spook" was a scientifically inadmissible hypothesis to explain the incidents in Resau. The verdict was also confirmed in the appeal court. During the trial it also became apparent that he had already attracted attention at school due to his very skillful throwing with barely noticeable hand movements. From April 1889 on he appeared in the performances of the then well-known sleight of hand and court magician Karl Rößner, who employed him as an assistant because of his skills in sleight of hand. Finally, it should be noted that since he had left Resau it was never haunted again.

A wind farm is being planned

Resau is located in the middle of a 9.4 square kilometer wind farm planned by the Prokon Group. According to the regional planning Havelland-Fläming 45 wind turbines up to 200 meters high could be installed there. In the meantime, a citizens' initiative has formed in Bliesendorf that opposes the plans. Several private forest owners, including the Bliesendorf parish, have stated that they will not make their forest areas available for the planned wind farm. The parish also made this resolution explicitly with consideration for the residents of Resau, who would be surrounded by the wind farm at a distance of 600 m but on three sides.

Attractions

Between Bliesendorf and Resau, already south of the autobahn, a group of boulders is known as “The Three Fat Men from Resau” (or “The Three Fat Men from Bliesendorf”).

The forest farm, consisting of a residential house and farm building, was built or renewed around 1900 when the Vorwerk was converted into a forestry department. The house, a yellow exposed brick building five axes wide and with a hip roof, still contains some walls of an older half-timbered building.
