The Resch & Frisch Holding GmbH is an Austrian company located in Gunskirchen manufactures, Bakery and pasta. Since it was founded in 1924, it has developed into an international company.

history

In 1924 Peter Resch - the grandfather of today's managing director and owner Josef Resch - founded a bakery in Wels-Pernau . In 1950 Josef and Hertha Resch built a new building there at Schloßstraße 15. In 1968 the bakery received a flour silo. The first branch was set up in 1974, and from 1975 to 1985 several shops were opened in Upper Austria. From 1988 a baking system with dough pieces including a freezer and oven was developed for final baking. In 1990 the company introduced a franchise system. In 1992, Resch & Frisch started their own sales in Germany in Munich . Frozen baked goods have been supplied to private households since 1998, including a special household oven.

In 2006 Josef Resch took over all company shares from family members and became the sole owner and managing director. From 2011 to 2013 the company expanded its production and storage capacities in Welser Uhlandstrasse. In 2013 the company took over a former Salzburg partner company with around 260 employees. In April 2015, the first gastro sales branch was opened in Vicenza , Italy . From 2015 to 2017 the company took over other companies or branches as well as the Flöckner brand in Salzburg. In the wake of the refugee crisis in Europe from 2015 onwards , the company also hired recognized refugees or persons entitled to subsidiary protection in its operations .

In April 2016 the first Resch & Frisch "Liebesbrot" branch was opened in Leonding.

In 2017, the company's headquarters moved to Gunskirchen due to space problems and a land dispute, where it has had a factory, offices and a visitor center since 2015.

In 2018 a new branch was opened in the V-Center in Vorchdorf.

Organization and numbers

Resch & Frisch operates bakery, confectionery and café branches. It also sells dough pieces to private households and the catering industry ; the company is considered a pioneer here. The main delivery areas are Austria and southern Germany.

The company has been run by Josef Resch and his son Georg Resch since 2018, both of whom are managing directors. The family company employed 1,600 people in 2017; the total turnover was around 143 million euros. In the following year, sales rose to 152.7 million euros and the number of employees to around 1,700.

Production takes place in two factories in Wels; the company also works with five domestic and foreign production partners. The branch network is particularly concentrated in Upper Austria and the city of Salzburg.

According to the company, the baking system for private individuals is represented in 180,000 households in Austria and southern Germany. According to the company, 18,000 other customers come from the catering sector, here from Austria, Germany , Italy, Switzerland , Slovenia , Slovakia , the Czech Republic , the Netherlands , Belgium , Luxembourg , Liechtenstein and Denmark .

Awards

In 2009 Resch & Frisch was the first large bakery operating across Austria to receive the AMA seal of approval .

In 2012, Resch & Frisch received the Top Hotel Star Award in silver in the Innovation category for the "gluten-free range" at the Internorga Hamburg.

In 2018 the company was awarded the title nominated for the State Prize .

Conflicts

In 2013, the labor inspectorate noticed 18,000 violations of working time and rest rules during inspections - including violations in the range of minutes. The company was then sent a penalty notice amounting to 900,000 euros or one million euros. In negotiations and legal disputes, the amount was reduced to 350,000 euros. At the end of 2014, the Upper Austria Regional Administrative Court issued a ruling with a reduction in penalties. Resch & Frisch had accepted and paid 120,000 euros of this by the beginning of 2015. The company did not recognize the remaining amount and intended to take legal action against it. In 2016, Josef Resch saw a final amount of 140,000 euros in this matter as justified.

The company director and district chairman of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Josef Resch, who publicly called for a ban on the trade unions and sharply attacked the Upper Austria Chamber of Labor because "ideologues" were active there, strongly opposed the establishment of a works council in his companies. Resch & Frisch applies the collective agreement (KV) for the trade, not the industrial collective agreement. The trade union side criticizes this, as does the regulation that the Chamber of Commerce makes the decision on the application of the KV.
