The Edmonton Indy is an automobile race held at Edmonton City Center Airport in Edmonton , Alberta , Canada . It has belonged to the highest category in American Championship Car Racing since 2005 and takes place annually. It has been part of the IndyCar Series racing calendar since 2008 .
history
The event at Edmonton City Center Airport was added to the Champ Cars racing calendar under the name West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix of Edmonton 2005 . With changing names, it remained in their racing calendar until the end of this series in 2007. The IndyCar Series has hosted this event since 2008 .
In 2011 the layout of the circuit was changed and a different part of the airport was used.
