The term Rhenish Carnival stands for various regional subspecies of Carnival in the Rhineland , see in particular

Like the borders of the Rhineland, the affiliations to the Rhenish Carnival are fluid.

The Rhenish Carnival with all its local variants was included on March 16, 2015 as one of the first 27 traditions and forms of knowledge in the nationwide list of intangible cultural heritage in the sense of the Convention for the Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO .
