Richard Daniel Alarcón Urrutia (born April 10, 1952 in Lima ) is Archbishop of Cuzco .

Life

Richard Daniel Alarcón Urrutia joined the Franciscan Order in 1969 and made profession on May 15, 1976 . He was ordained a priest on December 8, 1976 . On April 20, 1993 he was incardinated in the clergy of the diocese of Tarma . From 1993 to 2001 he was vicar general of this diocese.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Tarma on June 13, 2001. He was ordained bishop by the Archbishop of Ayacucho o Huamanga , Luis Abilio Sebastiani Aguirre SM , on July 21 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Rino Passigato , Apostolic Nuncio in Peru , and Luis Armando Bambarén Gastelumendi SJ , Bishop of Chimbote .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Cuzco on October 28, 2014. The inauguration took place on January 4th of the following year. Archbishop Alarcón was the President of Caritas Peru (Caritas del Perú) until March 2018.
