Richard Elgin McGarvie AC KStJ QC (born May 21, 1926 in Colac , Victoria , Australia , † May 24, 2003 in Melbourne , Victoria ) was an Australian judge and professor who was also Governor of Victoria .

Life

Richard McGarvie occurred in 1944 after the end of his school career his military service in the Royal Australian Navy and received his training as an officer aboard the HMAS Cerberus . However, it was no longer used in World War II .

After the end of the war he studied law , was a lawyer and in 1963 was appointed Crown Attorney ( Queen's Counsel ). He also wrote legal textbooks and was a lecturer before he mid- 1960s years Chancellor of La Trobe University was in Melbourne.
