Robert Easton

Robert Easton Burke (* the 30th November 1930 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ; † 16th December 2011 in Toluca Lake , California ) was an American actor and dialect - coach .

Life

Robert Easton Burke was the son of Mary Easton, nee Kloes, and John Edward Burke. His parents divorced when he was seven, and he moved to San Antonio , Texas with his mother . He later dropped his last name Burke to distance himself more from his father. In 1945 he made his debut as an actor on the radio show Quiz Kid . He later studied at the University of Texas . Easton made his film debut in the 1949 and directed by William Castle crime film Deadly Suction at the side of John Russell and Dorothy Hart .

During his childhood he suffered from stuttering and found it easier to speak dialects other than his own. Therefore, he has always had a strong interest in phonetics . To this end, he studied at University College London . Later he was hired more often as a dialect trainer. He has been hired by many well-known actors for their acted accents. So he helped Al Pacino with his Cuban accent for Scarface , Robert Duvall with a Virginia dialect for Gods and Generals and Arnold Schwarzenegger with his Russian dialect for his role in Red Heat . He also helped Forest Whitaker for his Oscar and Golden Globe Award winning performance in The Last King of Scotland - In the Clutches of Power with his Ugandan dialect. He later also taught at UCLA and the University of Southern California .

Easton was married to the Englishwoman June Bettine Grimstead from March 18, 1961 until her death on April 2, 2005. They had a daughter together.
