Robert Ilgner

Robert Eduard Friedrich Ferdinand Ilgner (born December 24, 1810 in Breslau , † November 2, 1891 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the Minden fortress .

Life

Robert was the son of the chamber assistant and calculator Friedrich Ferdinand Ilgner and his wife Charlotte, née Teichert.

Military career

Ilgner joined the 11th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a fusilier on February 1, 1820 and was promoted to Second Lieutenant by mid-March 1823 . From 1830 to 1831 he was in command of Duke Albrecht von Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1812-1834) as a teacher and tutor. After his return he served as adjutant of the Fusilier Battalion from 1833 to 1835 and then as regimental adjutant until 1839. At the same time he was also the teacher of Duke Eugen Erdmann of Württemberg in 1836/38 . On May 29, 1839, Ilgner was assigned to the Department of Disabled Persons in the War Ministry and was promoted to Prime Lieutenant at the beginning of June 1840 . Left in his command, he was aggregated to the regiment on July 8, 1840, and on March 22, 1843 as captain of the War Ministry . On October 9, 1848, Ilgner was appointed major and on December 25, 1849 in the ministry.

On December 9, 1851, Ilgner was initially commissioned to manage the business as head of the clothing department, then appointed to the board on June 22, 1852 and head of department on December 16, 1852. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1853 and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Swords on April 15, 1854 . Ilgner rose to colonel in mid-October 1856 and was awarded the Order of St. Stanislaus, 2nd class with crown , on October 24, 1857 . On January 20, 1850, under position à la suite of the War Ministry, he was appointed Commander of the Minden Fortress . In this position received on May 30, 1859 the character of major general. On September 20, 1861 he was awarded the Red Eagle Order II. Class with Oak Leaves and on October 14, 1861 with the Commander's Cross I Class of the Guelph Order . Under awarding of the Crown II. Class was Ilgner on 8 January 1864, the board of a brigade commander to the disposition provided. In addition, on February 18, 1864, he received permission to accept honorary citizenship of the city of Minden. He died on November 2, 1891 in Berlin and was buried on November 5, 1891 in the garrison cemetery.
