Robert Jean Louis Le Gall OSB (born February 26, 1946 in Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët , Département Manche , France ) is Archbishop of Toulouse and Primate of Gallia Narbonensis .

Life

Robert Le Gall entered the Benedictine abbey of Sainte-Anne de Kergonan as a novice on November 30, 1963 , where he studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the abbey of Saint-Pierre de Solesmes . He made his temporary vows on December 8, 1965 the perpetual vows took place on December 8, 1970. On August 24, 1974, he received by the Bishop of Vannes , Pierre Boussard , the ordination . In June 1976 he obtained a degree in theology in dogmatics from the University of Friborg (Switzerland) . He then continued his biblical studies in Israel . Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Mende on October 16, 2001 . As a motto he chose De Unitate Trinitatis .

On July 11, 2006 he was welcomed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Archbishop of Toulouse; the ceremonial inauguration ( enthronement ) took place on September 10 of the same year. In 2017, Le Gall became a member of the Council for Interreligious Relations in the French Bishops' Conference .
