Robert Longo
Robert Longo (born January 7, 1953 in Brooklyn , New York ) is an American artist who lives and works in New York. He has been married to the German actress Barbara Sukowa since 1994 .
life and work
Longo took art lessons in the studio of the sculptor Leonda Finke and spent a study visit at the art academy in Florence . He graduated from Buffalo State College in New York State in 1975. In 1974 he made contact with fellow student Cindy Sherman and in the following years dealt intensively with the media of installation , performance , video art and photography .
Longo is artistically active in the fields of visual arts ( painting , printing, mixed media , multimedia ), film and music video , among others . After his first directorial work Arena Brains (1988), he directed the 1995 film Johnny Mnemonic, based on a short story by William Gibson .
He was awarded the Kaiserring of the city of Goslar for 2005.
