Roger Shah (* 29. November 1972 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a German Trance - DJ and - producer . He is also known under the pseudonyms DJ Shah , Sunlounger , Black Pearl , Magic Island , Magic Wave , Savannah and others.
biography
Roger-Pierre Shah began his career in 1996. In 1999 he released his first single, Claps, and achieved first chart successes in the European dance charts. He has now been able to publish his singles on renowned labels such as Black Hole and Anjunabeats . He also founded the Magic Island Records label , which became a sub-label of Armada Music in 2008 .
From 2001 to 2007 siblings DJ Shah and Pedro del Mar ran a weekly radio show called Mellomania on Radio Sunshine Live . Since May 2nd, 2008 Roger Shah has a weekly radio show on Digitally Imported called Magic Island - Music for Balearic People . The two-hour program plays trance and progressive music in the first hour and chill-out Balearic trance in the second hour.
In 2008 he produced the single Going Wrong with Armin van Buuren , which entered the Dutch singles charts at number 5. 2009 Roger Shah came in the choice of 100 DJs Top of DJ Mag ranked 21st
In 2016, the track Unbreakable was composed in collaboration with Aly & Fila and the singer Susana . This was voted "Tune of the Year" in Armin van Buuren's radio show A State of Trance .
Pseudonyms and side projects
Until 2008, Roger Shah published his music under the name DJ Shah only then switched to Roger Shah. However, in addition to the tracks that he published under his own name, he also produced music under pseudonyms such as High Noon at Salinas, Magic Island or Savannah. Another stage name is Sunlounger . Under this name he released the album Another Day on The Terrace in 2008 , from which four singles were released. In 2009 he released the second album called Sunny Tales under this pseudonym. A single that was released on December 18, 2008, was Lost . This was voted Tune of the Year on Armin van Buuren's radio show A State of Trance .
Roger Shah is also involved in side projects. He is part of the Purple Moods project, which publishes their tracks on Anjunabeats, and together with Ralph Fritsch he founded the Black Pearl project.
