Rokas Suslavičius (born June 17, 1990 in Vilnius ) is a former Lithuanian biathlete .

Career

Rokas Suslavičius lives and trains in Vilnius. He started biathlon in 2004 and has been a member of his country's national team since 2005. Suslavičius starts for Instinktas , his trainer is Stanislovas Sabaliauskas. Since 2006 he has competed in the junior European Cup . The first international championship was the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2007 in Martell , where he was 70th in the individual and 14th in the relay. He did not finish the sprint race. This was followed by the junior races at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2007 in Otepää . In the cross-country races he was 41st in the sprint and tenth with the relay, on roller skis he was placed 35th in the sprint and 34th in the pursuit. In 2008 the major events began again with the Junior World Championships, that year in Ruhpolding . The Lithuanian was 75th in the individual, 66th in the sprint and 14th in the relay. This was followed by the junior races of the European Biathlon Championships in 2008 in Nové Město na Moravě , where Suslavičius was 71st of the individual and 68th of the sprint. The relay did not finish. Later in the year he took part in the junior races of the 2008 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Haute-Maurienne . In the cross-country races he reached 19th place, out of rollerskiing 34 in the sprint and 31 in the pursuit. The Lithuanian competed in these three competitions in 2009 as well. First he was in Canmore at the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2009 44th of function SINGLE, 50th of the sprint and sixth in the relay, in Ufa ranks 41 came in singles, 33 in the sprint and 35 in the pursuit at the Biathlon European Championships in 2009 added . In the summer he took part again in the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2009 in Oberhof , where he was 35th in the sprint and 28th in the pursuit in the cross races and 43rd in the sprint from roller skis. In the roller ski pursuer, he retired as a lapped runner. At the 2010 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Torsby , Suslavičius was 75th in the individual, 68th in the sprint and once again in season 14. In Duszniki-Zdrój , the junior races of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2010 followed with the results 36 in the sprint and 30 in the pursuit. At the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2011 in Nové Město, the Lithuanian competed for the fifth time at a Junior World Championships and was 84th of the individual and 82nd of the sprint. It was followed a little later by the 2011 European Biathlon Championships , in which Suslavičius was 47th of the individual, 46th of the sprint and 45th of the pursuit in the junior races. The 2011 Summer Biathlon World Championships broke 41st place in the junior sprint. He was lapped in the pursuer.

From the 2008/09 season Suslavičius started with the men in the IBU Cup. He contested his first race, an individual, in Obertilliach and was 94th. In 2011 , he was 33rd in a sprint in Bansko and won points for the first time, while also achieving his best position in the second highest racing series to date. In the World Cup, he started for the first time at the beginning of the 2009/10 season in Östersund and was 131st in the sprint race. After he only achieved placings beyond the top 100 at the beginning of the 2010/11 IBU Cup season, Suslavičius improved over the course of the year and took part in the 2011 European Championships . There he was appointed to the side of Tomas Kaukėnas , Karol Dombrovski and Karolis Zlatkauskas for the first time in the men's team at an international championship and was with them 14th of the relay race. After around three years in which he was only used in the IBU Cup, he was allowed to contest another World Cup race at the 2013 World Cup in Antholz . There he reached 98th place, a significantly better result than on his debut in 2009. His first world championships were the 2013 in Nové Město na Moravě , where he was only used in individual races and finished 117th. Also in the 2013/14 season , Rokas Suslavičius mainly competed in races in the IBU Cup. A deployment in the Kontiolahti sprint was his only World Cup appearance. At the beginning of the next season , the Lithuanian mostly started the IBU Cup, but was part of all Lithuanian relays in the World Cup, where he mostly ran in third or fourth place. This process continued in the next seasons up to his career. In the 2015/16 World Cup he also ran the individual races in North America, where he was 81st in the sprints in Canmore and 86th in Presque Isle . These should remain his best World Cup placements.

After not taking part in the 2018 Winter Olympics, Rokas Suslavičius ended his active career. In his last race in 2018 at the Oslo Sprint , he finished 103rd after five shooting errors.
