Roland Doschka

Roland Doschka (* 1941 in Tübingen ) was academic advisor for French at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . He is editor , author , organizer of art exhibitions and garden designer.

Life and professional career

After graduating from Eugen-Bolz-Gymnasium in Rottenburg am Neckar and studying Romance and English at the Universities of Tübingen , Aix en Provence , Montpellier , Newcastle upon Tyne and Oxford , he became a lecturer in French at the University of Freiburg in 1973 Breisgau appointed.

Since 1981 he has organized art exhibitions on classical modernism in the Balingen town hall , including Pablo Picasso , Joan Mirò , Marc Chagall , Claude Monet and Paul Klee . Through personal relationships, he was able to organize pictures that had never been exhibited before. He organized his last exhibitions in Lindau at the annual meeting of the Nobel Prize winners . More than 1.6 million visitors came to his exhibitions (as of August 2013). In 1991 he was appointed professor by then Prime Minister Erwin Teufel .

Doschka also wrote and published art books .

His garden in Dettingen / Rottenburg was expanded to include an Anglo-Saxon part in 2011, is now over four hectares and has received several awards. Several books have been published about this garden.

Awards and honors

On April 25, 2009, Roland Doschka received the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg from the then Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Günther Oettinger in Mannheim Castle . Because of his commitment to French culture and language, he was awarded the National Order of Merit of the Republic of France in 1993 . In July 2011 he received the Chevalier dans l´ Ordre des Palmes Académiques from the French Consul General Michel Charbonnier . The city of Balingen awarded him the city's ring of honor .

Doschka has also been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit and the Robert Schuman Prize since 1991 . In 2006 he received the European Culture Project Prize for organizing art exhibitions in the Balingen town hall for 25 years.

On March 18, 2016, he was awarded the Golden Citizens' Ring of the City of Lindau. Doschka is the third living person to receive this award.
