Roland Manz

Roland Karl Manz (born September 21, 1938 in Fulda ; † July 15, 2014 in Büdingen ) was a German administrative lawyer and local politician ( SPD ). From 1976 to 1982 he was mayor of the Hessian city of Büdingen.

Career

Roland Manz was born as the son of the commercial employee Rudolf Manz and his wife Anna, b. Glitsch, born in Fulda. There he attended the Municipal Grammar School , which he in March 1958 with the final examination completed. Studied from summer semester 1958 Manz at the University of Marburg law . With the summer semester of 1962 he finished his studies. In January 1963 he passed the first state law examination . In the summer semester of 1964 he attended the University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer . He passed his second state examination in law in 1967 in Kassel .

From March to August 1967 Manz worked in the Kassel law firm Dr. Hans H. Lehna. On September 1, 1967, he moved to the Hessian Community Day in Mühlheim am Main . During this time he also worked as a course leader at the Freiherr vom Stein Institute with a focus on local law and administrative reform . On January 1, 1969, he joined the SPD, to which he belonged until his death. On March 1, 1971, Roland Manz moved to the Hessian Ministry of the Interior in Wiesbaden , where he worked in the municipal department for municipal legal issues, administrative reform, municipal law drafts, the amendment of local electoral law, civil service law and, in particular, the amendment of the Hessian municipal code . During this time he worked as a lecturer at the Hessian Administrative School Association Wiesbaden in the field of local law and at the Social Democratic Academy for Local Politics .

On August 1, 1972, Roland Manz was appointed State Commissioner District Administrator in the Vogelsberg district . With the assumption of office of the district council elected district councilor Jochen Zwecker , the secondment ended on January 15, 1973. In this function, Manz was chairman of the administrative board of the district savings banks Lauterbach and Alsfeld and a member of the board of various associations in the Vogelsberg district. On September 26, 1975, Roland Manz was elected mayor of the city of Büdingen by the city council of Büdingen as the successor to Willi Zinnkann . He took office on March 5, 1976. With the election of Eberhard Bauner as mayor, Manz's term of office ended on March 4, 1982. After the end of his term of office in Büdingen, Manz worked for the Hessian state associations of the German War Graves Commission (1985) and from the end of 1987 at the Red Cross Hesse as managing director. In 1990 he retired. Roland Manz was married to the teacher and director of the Büdingen secondary and secondary school Margot Manz, with whom he had two children.
