Roland Reber (born August 11, 1954 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German director , author and actor .

Life

After completing his training at the Bochum Drama School, he worked as an actor and director at the Bochum , Düsseldorf , Essen and Hamburg theaters and founded the Theater Pathological Institute (TPI), which later became the Theater Institute. Actors such as Jochen Nickel , Fee Sachse (leading actress and deputy artistic director), Thirza Bruncken , Carsten Lorenz, Joe Bausch , Frank Hoelz and Thomas Rech gained their first stage experience here.

He was the founder and head of the World Theater Project (in cooperation with the German, Russian, Caribbean and Mexican UNESCO Commission as part of the United Nations' World Decade for Cultural Development). Reber wrote numerous plays, scripts, and poetry. Together with Fee Sachse, he was a lecturer for acting and directing in Moscow, New Delhi, Cairo and the Caribbean (Kingston, Jamaica and Nassau, Bahamas).

He shot his first feature film "You bent my soul like a beautiful dancer" in 1980 with members of the Bochum theater. Before that, together with Hanns Dieter Hüsch, he was significantly involved in the development of the ARD multi-part series “Die kleine Heimat”. In addition to Hüsch, he played one of the main roles.

Reber has been a director at wtp international film production in Munich since 1999 and has received six international cinema awards (including in Hollywood , Chicago and Melbourne ). He was an international jury member at the Cairo , Alexandria and Dakha Film Festivals . Until 2008 he was the official representative of the Cairo International Film Festival for Germany and general representative for the Damascus International Film Festival for Europe. At the 2007 Sitges International Film Festival , Reber was appointed to the international jury. At Film Festival Fantasporto in Porto in 2008 he was also in the international jury.

His film Angels with Dirty Wings (2009) celebrated its international premiere on October 10, 2009 at the Sitges International Film Festival. The German premiere took place at the 2009 Hof Film Festival . In November 2009 Roland Reber was honored with a retrospective at the International Film Festival of India , where all of his films were shown. His film 24/7 The Passion of Life won the Jury Prize for Best Picture at the 1st Faversham Film Festival, Kent, England. His film Illusion celebrated its German premiere at the Hofer Filmtage 2013. In 2018 his ninth feature film was released with wtp international The Taste of Life , which celebrated its German premiere at the 2017 Hof Film Festival. In addition to other festivals, this film was also presented at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival BIFFF, and the Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantastic de Catalunya in Sitges Spain. A total of five Roland Reber films were shown at the Hof Film Festival. In his private life he lives with his three partners Mira Gittner , Marina Anna Eich and Antje Nikola Mönning .
