Roland Vogel (born April 7, 1951 in Karlsruhe ) is a former German football player . From 1972 to 1979, the winger played a total of 193 league games in the Soccer Regional League South , 2nd Bundesliga and Bundesliga for the clubs Karlsruher SC and SV Waldhof Mannheim and scored 44 goals.

Career

Roland Vogel's first youth station was the Karlsruhe district association FV Grünwinkel. In the A-youth and from 1969 also in the senior team, the offensive player played for the old master Karlsruher FV , before he played in the 1st amateur league North Baden from 1971 at VfB Knielingen . The two-footed and fast winger drew the attention of those responsible at KSC, especially in the Karlsruhe city derbies of the 1971/72 season in the attack by Knielingen against Karlsruher FV, FC Neureut, KSC Amateure and FG Rüppurr. For the round 1972/73 he got a contract from the blue-whites from the wildlife park and dared to jump into the then second-class Regionalliga Süd. Further newcomers to the team of coach Heinz Baas were the two strikers Hans Fritsche and Manfred Grimm , the midfield talent Wilfried Trenkel and the defender Jürgen Radau . Vogel made his debut on the first round match day in the KSC league team in a 2-0 away win against SSV Reutlingen. The Baden attack had come to an end with Vogel, Fritsche and Gerd Becker . The team's top performers were Rudi Wimmer and Horst Wild . In the 1972/73 season , the promotion round to the Bundesliga was achieved by a second place in the league . Vogel, who scored 13 goals in 33 games in the Regionalliga and was the second most successful KSC attacker behind Fritsche (16 goals), came in all eight promotion games against Fortuna Köln, FC St. Pauli, FSV Mainz 05 and Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin deployed, but the rise failed.

In the first year of coaching by Carl-Heinz Rühl , 1973/74, Vogel (32-5) took eighth place with the KSC in the last regional league year, but was one of the first participants in the debut season 1974/75 of the 2nd Bundesliga with the Karlsruhe team. The second division was carried out in two seasons. At the end of the first season of the 2nd Bundesliga, the Karlsruhe team celebrated the championship in the southern season. Vogel's team-mate Bernd Hoffmann was the top scorer with 25 goals this season. The wingers Karl Berger (32-10) and Roland Vogel (36-6) played a major role in the success of KSC and striker Hoffmann . In the following season 1975/76 , his first Bundesliga season, Vogel came to eighteen missions in which he scored a goal. The second season in the House of Lords, 1976/77, came to a quick end for Vogel. He moved to SV Waldhof Mannheim in November 1976 , so he was spared the descent of KSC in summer 1977. Vogel played his last Bundesliga game on October 23, 1976 in the 2: 4 away defeat at Tennis Borussia Berlin. In total, he came to 124 league games for KSC, in which he scored 25 goals.

The Karlsruhe attacker played his first game for Waldhof in the 2nd Bundesliga on November 21, 1976 in the 2: 4 away defeat at SSV Jahn Regensburg. He introduced himself as a two-time goalscorer in the team around goalkeeper Walter Pradt , Libero Günter Sebert , Vorstopper Paul Steiner , midfielder Wolfgang Böhni and striker Werner Heck . With the Mannheimers he played in the 2nd Bundesliga until the end of the 1978/79 season and made 67 league appearances with 19 goals. Due to his not harmonious relationship with the coaches Anton Rudinski and his successor Slobodan Cendic , the Karlsruhe player moved to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg for VfB Eppingen for the 1979/80 round .

At the side of the teammates Erwin Rupp , Martin Kübler and Harry Griesbeck , the Kraichgau-Elf made it to the 2nd division at the end of the season. Vogel no longer wanted to play professional football and left Eppingen and from then on played for SV Sandhausen until the end of his career in 1983 in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. With Sandhausen he celebrated the championship in 1980/81 .

After completing his professional career as a licensed player, Vogel learned the profession of financial accountant and worked for the Badischer Friedhofsgärtner cooperative in Karlsruhe. He also worked as a cashier at the amateur club Schwarz-Weiß Mühlburg in his hometown.
