The Rolex Prize for Entrepreneurship ( English Rolex Award (s) for Enterprise , often abbreviated Rolex Award (s) ) is an award that was donated in 1976 by the Swiss watch manufacturer Rolex SA on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of their Rolex Oyster watch model .

The award has been made since 1978, initially every three years, and since 1998 mostly every two years. Beginning in 2010, every second award was given to young laureates between the ages of 18 and 30. In 2016 this scheme was deviated from and five laureates (award winners) and five young laureates were awarded. In 2019 five laureates and five associate laureates were named. The next award is announced for 2021.

The award supports new or ongoing projects. These projects can come from any of the following areas: applied technology, cultural heritage, environmental protection, research, discovery, science, or health. The award winners each receive 100,000 Swiss francs for their project, young laureates receive 50,000 euros. The award winners should also benefit from media attention from the award and from the network with previous award winners. The jury is reassembled every year and consists of explorers, environmentalists, scientists, doctors, teachers and inventors. The award criteria should be originality, potential impact, feasibility, but also a certain "spirit of enterprise".

The International Congress of Distinguished Awards (ICDA) places the Rolex Prize in the group of around a dozen international awards with the highest prestige - together, for example, with the Nobel Prizes , the Balzan Prize , the Templeton Prize or the Erasmus Prize .
