Rolf Kleine

Rolf Kleine (born January 21, 1961 in Osnabrück ) is a German journalist and book author . He has worked for the Axel Springer Verlag for many years . In the meantime, he was a lobbyist for Deutsche Annington , spokesman for the SPD chancellor candidate Peer Steinbrück in the 2013 federal election campaign and until the end of 2018 chief editor for politics at the BILD newspaper .

Life

After graduating from high school and doing military and community service, Kleine studied history , musicology and journalism in Münster and Vienna from 1981 to 1988 . At the same time he worked as a music and opera critic for the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung , the Wiener Zeitung and the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik and the Zurich Opera World .

From 1988 to 1990, Kleine volunteered at the regional newspaper Westfälische Nachrichten in Münster and in 1990 moved to Bonn for the Deutscher Depeschendienst (ddp) news agency , of which he had been the chief editor since 1992. In 1994 he joined the BILD newspaper in Bonn as a reporter. Chief reporter for the paper since 1996, he moved to Berlin in 1999 and became deputy head of the Berlin newspaper's capital city office , before returning to BILD-Zeitung in 2000 as head of the capital city office.

After 17 years of work for Axel Springer Verlag, from February 1, 2012 to June 10, 2013, Kleine was Head of Public Affairs and Head of the Capital Representation of the real estate group Deutsche Annington. On June 10, 2013 it was announced that Kleine is replacing Michael Donnermeyer as spokesman for SPD candidate for chancellor Steinbrück. After the election campaign was over, he returned to the BILD newspaper on May 15, 2014. The article written by Kleine and Hans-Jörg Vehlewald in January 2017 on BILD.de and in the BILD newspaper that Sigmar Gabriel would become SPD candidate for chancellor caused a stir throughout Germany . A short time later, this turned out to be false news when Gabriel announced that he would not be the SPD candidate for chancellor.

Kleine is married and lives in Berlin and Lienz in Tyrol .
