Rolf Kurz (politician)

Rolf Kurz (born January 17, 1935 in Fellbach ; † September 18, 2018 there ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ). From 1984 to 2006 he was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Life

Briefly attended the high school in Fellbach, which he left with the secondary school leaving certificate. He then completed a commercial apprenticeship in a company in the transport industry and also attended a business school. From 1968 he worked as an independent entrepreneur, most recently as the sole shareholder and managing director of a group of companies consisting of the companies KURZ Aviation Service - Business-Aviation-Center - Stuttgart GmbH and KURZ-Autovermietung GmbH , both based in Stuttgart . He was also the owner of a sole proprietorship for renting and leasing his own real estate and managing partner of a property management company.

Kurz was district chairman of the Junge Union from 1962 to 1966 and chairman of the CDU in the Rems-Murr district from 1991 to 2000. From 1971 to 1989 he was a member of the municipal council of Fellbach, where he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group for 15 years and at times deputy mayor. He was a member of the district council of the Rems-Murr district from 1980 to 1992, and from 1986 to 1992 he was deputy district chairman.

In the state elections in 1984 , 1988 , 1992 , 1996 and 2001 , Kurz was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg. He always won the first mandate in constituency 15 (Waiblingen) . In the state parliament he was deputy chairman from 1991 to March 1996 and parliamentary manager of the CDU parliamentary group from 1992 to 1996. From March 1996 he held the position of treasurer of the CDU parliamentary group. At the end of the 13th electoral term (2001-2006), which he had opened as the age president of the state parliament, he left parliament.

In addition to his partisan and parliamentary career, Kurz was, among other things, a member of the representative assembly of the Federal Insurance Agency for Salaried Employees and a member of the budget and finance committee, chairman of the advisory board at the ifm Institute for SME Research at the University of Mannheim as well as deputy chairman of the ifm association and chairman of the association Paulinenpflege e. V. in Winnenden . In addition, he was chairman of the Federation of Self-Employed until October 2006 . In 2006 Kurz became Honorary Consul of the Republic of Hungary at the Hungarian Consulate in Stuttgart .

Rolf Kurz was married and had four sons.
