Romina Espinosa (born January 13, 1988 in Coral Gables , Florida ) is an American actress , singer and author .

life and career

Espinosa, of Cuban Jewish origin, whose ancestors also come from Morocco , the Basque Country and Spain itself, was born in 1988 in Coral Gables in the US state of Florida . At the age of 13 she took acting lessons for the first time and at about the same time she began her activity as a writer, at the age of 16 she published her first 76-page book, The Freedom of my Eyes , which deals with her own coping went from ADHD . Shortly afterwards, she began to establish herself as a motivational speaker and helped many children and adults. After initially attending the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Coconut Grove , a neighborhood in Miami , she graduated from high school at the age of 18 and moved to Los Angeles to devote herself to acting. She enrolled in the UCLA Extension Writers' Program , a non-profit organization of the University of California, Los Angeles , and received a certificate as a registered screenwriter for feature films.

After being surrounded and inspired by music as a child, she began taking singing lessons from the age of 15. Two years later she found her way to a singing school, including spending two months in central Italian Spoleto , where she briefly studied music. Already in her high school days, she sang the official national anthem of the USA at town meetings in front of local politicians and other people . Espinosa, who speaks both French and Spanish and also has the British and Southern dialect, currently lives with her family in Los Angeles. The versatile Espinosa enjoyed other training at The Second City Training Center , one of The Second City's own facilities , where she was trained in improvisational theater . She received further training in comedy and improv at Moo Studios in Hollywood and also received private training from actress and trainer Kate McGregor-Stewart , who has trained Nicole Kidman , Cary Elwes and Wes Bentley , among others .

She also took acting classes at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute , where she was trained in acting techniques and dance, among other things. In Madrid she also attended a well-known Spanish drama school with the Escuela de Cristina Rota , where she is increasingly used as an actress and in the improv field. She has been attending Hey, I Saw Your Commercial! where she is trained for appearances in the advertising sector (commercials etc.). She is also currently receiving voice-over training from Rick Zieff , one of the leading voice-over trainers in Los Angeles, and voice training from Susannah Murray, also a trainer based in Los Angeles. She received further training in her voice at Pepperdine University , where her vocal performance was optimized from 2006 to 2007, as well as in the aforementioned Spoleto in Italy and with a private voice trainer in Miami.

In addition, the young actress, singer and author appeared in various theaters. Among other things, these were or are the Monroe Theater (part of the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute), the Coconut Grove Playhouse , which closed in 2007, and the theater of Cristina Rota , whose acting school Espinosa also attended. Furthermore, the 22-year-old today (as of December 2010) was already involved in a number of commercials, including a spot for the chewing gum brand Bubblicious . The indie rock band The Spill Canvas brought Espinosa to the cast , which was only a few people, for the music video for their song Staplegunned . She also made her acting debut in front of a camera and also in front of a larger audience. After her acting debut in music video, she had a supporting role in the 2008 film Wild Child , followed by one of the lead roles in the short film Precious Moments , where she mimes a teenager struggling with growing up who is trying to rebuild a relationship with his distant father.

Further engagements followed in the film Message , where she again took on one of the leading roles, and in 2009 in the films Why Am I Doing This? and you . Espinosa was also used in a television series when she appeared in an episode of Jonas LA in 2009 . The next released film Espinosa worked on is Joshua Tree , which is currently in post-production and due for release in the US in 2011. In addition, the daughter of the actor Manuel Espinosa is an avid photographer, rider and swimmer who also does a variety of other sports. During her youth she also learned to play a guitar, among other things. In 2010 she took part in an 80-second video clip entitled Theatrical (Speed) Reel .
