Ron Pope (* 23. July 1983 ; full name Ronald Michael Pope ) is an American pop - and rock'n'roll -Singer-songwriter. He grew up in Marietta , Georgia , USA and currently lives in New York City . Together with Zach Berkman , he wrote the Internet hit A Drop in the Ocean in 2005 , which gave him his breakthrough as a solo artist. He is successful with his music both in the USA and internationally.

Background and career

Ronald Michael Pope grew up on the outskirts of Marietta in Atlanta . There he attended East Cobb Middle School and Joseph Wheeler High School. He started playing guitar very early. It only became a bigger part of his life in high school when he played in various bands. After high school, he attended Rutgers University for two years to play baseball .

After an injury that ended his career, he moved to New York University (NYU) in 2003 to pursue his other passion, music. There he graduated in anthropology in 2005 . After joining a course on songwriting with other students, he met later band members Zack Berkman and Paul Hammer. They formed the band The District with Chris Kienel, Will Frish and Mike Clifford. They had great success as a college band on the NYU campus , which is why they toured the United States for over two years and recorded three albums: The District , The District Does Christmas and Last Call . In December 2010 the band met again to record Wellfleet .

In March 2008 Pope appeared on the MTV show TRL as a "Featured up and coming artist". He wrote, produced and independently released four albums: Daylight (2008), The Bedroom Demos (2009), Goodbye, Goodnight (2009) and Hello, Love (2009).

In May 2009 he signed a recording deal with Universal Republic . After a year with Universal Republic and the release of two singles ( A Drop in the Ocean and I Believe ), he left the label to start producing his own music again. Since then he has written, produced and released two albums: The New England Sessions (2009) and Whatever it Takes (2010). His own label is called Hard Six Records . He also created the project 26 Tuesdays , in which he released a new single every week between July and December 2011.

In September 2011 he recorded his latest album at The Magic Shop Studios in SoHo (Manhattan) . The album Atlanta was released in April 2012. The latest EP called Monster was released on December 19, 2012.

On August 6, 2013, his single Lick My Wounds was released .

tour

In March 2011, Pope was on a nine-week tour across the United States to promote the album Whatever It Takes . The tour was supported by Ari Herstand and Zach Berkman. The second half of the tour ended in New York on November 20, 2011. In this section Alexis Babini and Zach Berkman played in the opening act. In February 2012, Pope went on his first tour outside of the United States. The tour includes dates in London , Manchester and Nottingham in England .

In January 2013 his Monster Tour started , in which he toured across Europe. The planned cities were: London , Leeds , Birmingham , Manchester , Glasgow , Belfast , Dublin , Paris , Zurich , Munich , Antwerp , Cologne , Frankfurt am Main , Amsterdam , Hamburg , Berlin , Copenhagen , Stockholm
