Ronald Monk

Ronald Mönch (born August 10, 1942 in Neckargemünd ) is a German lawyer and university professor.

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Heidelberg in 1961, Mönch studied law at the universities of Heidelberg and Göttingen . In 1966 he passed his first state examination in law and did his military service from 1966 to 1968. A study visit to the Sorbonne in Paris followed in 1968/69. In 1971 Mönch passed his second state examination in law in Stuttgart . He then worked as a lawyer in Heidelberg and Mannheim until 1973 and then as a lecturer, later as a professor at the University of Economics in Bremen .

From 1979 to 1982 he was rector of the University of Economics and from 1982 to 1986 founding rector of the Bremen University of Applied Sciences , which in 1982 had 3,000 students. In 1986, 1991 and 1996 he was re-elected Rector of the University of Bremen for five years, so that in 2001 he could look back on 22 years as Rector in Bremen.

From 2000 to 2002 Mönch was Vice President of the University Rectors' Conference (HRK), responsible for the "Student Affairs" division.

In 2001, Mönch was scheduled to be the rector of the planned Apollo International University of Applied Sciences in Cologne and Düsseldorf , but the university did not begin its studies.

He is currently working at the Oldenburg / Ostfriesland / Wilhelmshaven University of Applied Sciences in Emden . There he is responsible for the social work and health departments. His work and research are Public Law with a focus on constitutional law , fundamental and human rights , European law , international law , corporate law and contract law .
