Satchel Ronan O'Sullivan Farrow (born December 19, 1987 in New York City ) is an American lawyer , journalist , author and former advisor to the US government.

Life

Ronan Farrow is the son of Mia Farrow . His father in the legal sense is Woody Allen , but it is still unclear whether Allen or Frank Sinatra is his biological father. It was named after baseball player Satchel Paige and Mia Farrow's mother, actress Maureen O'Sullivan . He was given the surname Farrow in order not to be the only child of the extended family called Allen .

Farrow skipped several grades, joined the Center for Talented Youth at the age of eleven , graduated from Bard College at Simon's Rock , a private liberal arts college near Pittsfield, Massachusetts , and from Bard College , which he attended at the age of 15 graduated with a Bachelor of Arts . After taking a break, he enrolled at Yale Law School , which he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2009 . Farrow was admitted to the bar in the New York State .

From 2001 to 2009 he was UNICEF spokesperson for youth and as such an “advocate” for children and women in the Darfur crisis. In 2009, Farrow was appointed Special Adviser to the Obama Administration on Humanitarian and NGO Affairs in the Office of the Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, succeeding Richard Holbrooke . Farrow had previously worked as a speechwriter for Holbrooke. In 2011, Farrow became Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's special advisor on youth issues worldwide. Farrow left the US government in 2012 and began a Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford .

In 2018, Farrow received the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for his contributions to the Weinstein scandal in New York . His book War on Peace was also published in 2018 under the title Das Ende der Diplomatie in German by Rowohlt Verlag . On December 3rd, the jury of the German Reporter Prize awarded him the special prize for investigation.

Farrow sees himself as part of the LGBT community. His partner has been presenter and former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett since 2011 .
