Rosalía Vila Tobella (born September 25, 1993 in Sant Esteve Sesrovires , Catalonia , Spain ), known by her first name Rosalía , is a Spanish singer, musician and songwriter . Their music combines traditional flamenco with contemporary pop music .

Career

In 2013 Rosalía performed as a duo with Juan “Chicuelo” Gómez at the Panama International Film Festival and the Festival Grec de Barcelona. In the same year she took part in the conference of the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) in New York . In 2014 she was the leading voice at the climax of the Año Espriu at the Palau de la Música Catalana . In 2015 she worked with the theater group La Fura dels Baus in a show that premiered in Singapore . She sang in the opening act of the flamenco singer Miguel Poveda at the International Music Festival in Cadaqués, as well as in 2016 at the Jerez Festival. She worked with Rocío Márquez on their album El Niño .

In 2016 Rosalía's debut album Los ángeles was released with flamenco classics in a new guise. The album rose to number 9 on the Spanish album charts.

After three singles, the second album El mal querer came out in 2018 . The songs written by Rosalía are based on the Occitan novella Le Roman de Flamenca from the 13th century. Together with the musician El Guincho , who is co-author on some songs, Rosalía also acted as co-producer. The first single Malamente was released on May 30, 2018, and the second Pienso en tu mirá on July 24, 2018 . The accompanying videos received a lot of attention on social media.

In 2019 she made her acting debut in the film Sorrow and Glory by the Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar .
