Rosenau is a village and part of the municipality of Grafenau and a district in the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau .

geography

The village Rosenau is located in the same district two kilometers north-east of Grafenau on the county road FRG 5 and is a stop on the railway line Zwiesel-Grafenau .

The towns of Rosenau, Aufeld , Auwies and Einberg are in the district .

history

On April 1, 1971, the independent rural community of Rosenau , established with the Bavarian municipal edict of 1818, was incorporated into Grafenau. On May 25, 1987, the village had 130 apartments in 90 buildings with housing and 376 residents.

The place is a Waldhufensiedlung (Rundangerdorf). The houses turn with the gable side in a loose arrangement, like a horseshoe, to the longitudinally oval "Anger". The place was once on the old Gulden road from Grafenau to Bergreichenstein in Bohemia.

It is not known exactly when Rosenau was created. The three bronze axes that were found in 1964, 1968 and 1972 on the outskirts of the village suggest an earlier settlement. Until this discovery, it was believed that the Bavarian and Bohemian Forests had been impenetrable wilderness up to the year 900. The finds made by Anton Moosbauer in 1964, Michael Graf in 1968 and Heinrich Graf in 1972 made it possible to prove through metallurgical investigations that the finds must date from around 1800 - 1600 BC.

In the earliest Salbuch of the Counts von Hals from 1395, which certainly refers to an earlier time, "Rosenaw" is already mentioned with 20 fiefdoms.

The fees to Bärnstein at that time amounted to 32 Regensburg pfennigs, 32 eggs, 2 chickens, 1 pfennig of cheese and 1 Schöt Harb for each fief . In the Salbuch from 1577, 20 fiefs are still mentioned. The boundaries of the “village rosenaw” are briefly described here: “meets the Grauenawer schweinberg veldt vnd the kazenpüchel, the Ebenperger Grundt, with the black wood at the trechselschlager of the munichsperg, then comes up against the von haslach vnd teufenbach, up to die och “.

At that time the place formed an " Obmannschaft ", a kind of tax community under the direction of a chairman. This resulted in the law of May 17, 1818, the community of Rosenau with its first community leader, Josef Stecher, farmer of Rosenau, elected by the citizens.

The village of Einberg belonged to Rosenau, which is also called "Eybenberg" with 12 fiefdoms in 1395. In 1811/12 the community had 172 inhabitants, 37 houses and 40 barns. The buildings were all clapboard. A linen weaver, a tailor and a shoemaker each worked alongside the other farmers in the village.

In 1878 the Rosenau volunteer fire brigade was founded.

In 1909 the community had 285 inhabitants, in 1971 there were 416 in 84 residential buildings. At the beginning of 1971 the economic area was 685 hectares, of which 368 hectares were used for agriculture, including 160 hectares of arable land and 204 hectares of permanent grassland. There are seven full farms and nine border farms in the municipality.

The community has always belonged to the Grafenau parish and the Grafenau school district. The formerly wooden local chapel was built in stone in 1953. The place has had a railway station since 1890. On October 27, 1968, a new fire department equipment store was opened. At the same time, a fire pond was built and the village pond was given a pleasant appearance.

The shooting club "Rosenschützen Rosenau" was founded in 1925.

In 1961 the community had an area of over 800 hectares and 368 inhabitants in the districts of Rosenau, Aufeld, Auwies and Einberg. In the course of the territorial reform on April 1, 1971, the municipality of Rosenau was completely incorporated into the city of Grafenau. At the time of the merger, Johann Scheichenzuber were the first mayor. With the takeover by the city of Grafenau he was appointed former mayor . In 1999 he received the Grafenau Citizens' Medal for his services to the community of Rosenau.
