Ruacana is a town in the constituency of the same name in the Omusati region in northern Namibia , with a border crossing over the Kunene river north to Calueque in Angola . Ruacana was a village until early 2011 and received city status in early February 2011. It has 2900 inhabitants (as of 2011).

Finances
In the reporting period 2008/2009, the village posted income of 5,657,206 Namibian dollars , offset by expenses of N $ 6,001,042. This results in a deficit of N $ 343,836.
Economy and Infrastructure
In addition to the district administration, Ruacana owns a few schools, medical and tourist facilities and an airfield. The companies NamPower and NamWater have larger branches here, from which the water extraction and energy generation at several dams on the Kunene are coordinated and their maintenance is carried out. The Ruacana Falls of the Kunene are a famous attraction in the region.
