Rudolf Müller (born April 11, 1947 in Vienna ) is an Austrian lawyer and former constitutional judge. Müller was a judge at the Austrian Constitutional Court from 1998 to 2017 and also as a judge at the Administrative Court from 1990 to 2012 .

Rudolf Müller was born in Vienna on April 11, 1947 . There he also attended compulsory school and graduated in 1965 from the Bundesrealgymnasium Wien XIX in the 19th district of Döbling . Professional background

After completing the military service , Rudolf Müller initially worked as an administrative clerk in the Federal Ministry for Social Administration from 1971 to 1973 , where he passed the administrative service examination in 1973. Subsequently, Müller began his legal practice and after completing the same he became a trainee lawyer in the Viennese law firm Dr. Ebner. The bar examination and admission as a lawyer followed in 1977. In 1990 Rudolf Müller was appointed as a judge at the Administrative Court, where he worked as a councilor until 2005 and as president of the senate from 2006 to 2012. In addition, from 1993 to 1998, Rudolf Müller also held the office of Presidential Board member at the Administrative Court. Since January 1, 2013, Müller has retired as a VwGH judge.

In 1998 Rudolf Müller, who had previously been a substitute member of the Constitutional Court since 1995, was nominated as a new member of the Constitutional Court by the Austrian National Council in a secret ballot at the suggestion of the governing parties SPÖ and ÖVP . In the same year Müller was appointed constitutional judge by Federal President Thomas Klestil . He was also a permanent speaker at the Constitutional Court. On December 31, 2017, Rudolf Müller also retired from the Constitutional Court because he had reached the constitutional age limit of 70 years.

In addition to his work as a judge at the VwGH and VfGH, Rudolf Müller was and is active as a teacher at Austrian universities. In 1997 he was awarded the license to teach labor and social law as an honorary professor at the University of Salzburg . At the Vienna University of Economics and Business , Müller works as a lecturer at the Institute for Austrian and European Labor Law and Social Law. He is a member of the Austrian Society for Labor Law and Social Law and has been a member of the scientific advisory board of the journal "Das Recht der Arbeit" (DRdA) since 1998.

From 1990 to 2011, Müller was an honorary member of the board of directors, chairman and from 2003 to 2011 chairman of the supervisory board (since then honorary chairman) of the Association for Probation Assistance and Social Work, or a new start . From January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2016 he was chairman of the committee for long-term pension security in accordance with Section 108e ASVG.
