Don't shout too loud (Original title: One Potato, Two Potato ) is an American drama film directed by Larry Peerce from 1964 .

action

The young mother Julie is left in the early 1960s by her husband, who moves to South Africa . After their divorce, she worked in an office where she fell in love with the African-American office worker Frank. When they both get married, they are rejected from all sides - Frank's parents, especially his father, reject the white Julie and Julie's family is also hostile to the marriage. The situation comes to a head when Julie's ex-husband returns and tries to secure custody of their daughter. He argues in court that the child's best interests are threatened by being associated with an African-American. Frank and Julie fight for parental rights in a racist environment, but the judge follows the ex-husband's explanations and awards the daughter to the father.
