The 2011/12 rugby Bundesliga was the 41st edition of this competition. In the rugby Bundesliga , ten teams initially played in a round-robin tournament , followed by playoffs in which the four highest placed teams played for the German championship after the regular season. The regular season started on August 27, 2011 and ended on April 21, 2012, followed by the two semi-finals and the championship final on May 5, 2012. This won the Heidelberg RK 20:16 against the TV Pforzheim 1834 .

TV Pforzheim 1834 was promoted from the 2nd Bundesliga 2010/11 . In contrast to the rugby Bundesliga 2010/11 , ten teams took part in the 2011/12 season.

First, the teams played in the first and second round against the nine other teams. The top four qualified for the playoffs, with the first playing against the fourth and the second against the third in the semi-finals. The winners of these two semi-finals were then in the final of the German championship. There was no relegation this season.
