The round-leaf bedstraw or round-leaved bedstraw ( Galium rotundifolium ) is a species of bed herb ( Galium ) within the red family (Rubiaceae).

Vegetative characteristics
The round-leaf bedstraw is a small, evergreen, perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of about 15, rarely up to 30 centimeters. The ascending stems are limp.
There are exactly four leaves at each node . Within the genus , the broadly elliptical or egg-shaped leaf blades, which are at most 2.5 times as long as they are wide, are typical for this species. The leaf margins are covered with fine prickly tips to white-bristle hairs. In addition to the middle nerve, two other lateral nerves can be seen, which go from the base of the leaf in an arc to almost the tip of the leaf, so that the leaves look three-veined.
Generative characteristics
The small white flowers are in a loose, terminal, approximately umbrella-shaped thyrse . The flowering time is between June and September, depending on the location.
The fruits are covered with hooked bristles.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.

The round-leaved bedstraw is a mesomorphic Chamaephyte . The round-leaved bedstraw is a moderhumus root .
The pollination is done by insects or there is self-pollination.
The spread of the diaspores takes place via the wind or Velcro spread as well as digestive spread.
Occurrence
The distribution area of the round-leaved bedstraw extends from Europe to Afghanistan and also includes Morocco , northern Borneo , Java and from Bangladesh to Vietnam . It occurs only in the temperate regions of Europe. In the Allgäu Alps, it rises on the Bolsterlanger Horn in Bavaria at altitudes of up to 1540 meters.
The round-leaf bedstraw thrives primarily in mixed spruce and fir forests and in spruce forests. It is widespread in the mountains, otherwise it is very scattered. It grows in Central Europe dispersed, but sociable in moss rich forests, fresh, moderately nutrient-rich, base-rich, calcium-poor, moderately acidic modrig- humic clay - and clay soils in humid air conditioning . It is a type of the sub-association Galio-Abietenion, but also occurs in societies of the sub-association Lonicero-fagenion. It's a shade plant .

Some taxa have been controversially discussed and taken as separate species, varieties or synonyms. There are two similar species in North America , sometimes referred to as varieties of Galium rotundifolium , namely:
