Rusheen McDonald (born August 17, 1992 in Mandeville ) is a Jamaican sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Rusheen McDonald gained his first international experience in 2011 at the CARIFTA Games in Montego Bay , where he finished seventh in the 400-meter run and won the silver medal with the Jamaican 4-by-400-meter relay. He then took part in the Pan American Junior Championships in Miramar , where he was eliminated from the individual competition in the first round and took fourth place in the final with the relay. In 2012 McDonald qualified for the Olympic Games in London , where he was eliminated with 46.67 s in the run -up. A year later he won the World Championships in Moscow , he won the silver medal behind the United States with the Jamaican team in 2: 59.88 s.

In 2014, McDonald took part for the first time in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , Scotland , where it reached the semi-finals over 400 meters and took fourth place with the Jamaican relay. Previously, he took part with the relay in the World Relays in the Bahamas and reached the finals there, in which the team finished eighth. A year later, he finished fourth in the 2015 World Relays . He also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated in the semifinals . However, he set the current Jamaican record with 43.93 s in the lead. With the Jamaican relay he finished fourth in the final with 2: 58.51 s.

In 2016 he qualified again for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated in the semifinals this time with 46.12 seconds . With the relay, McDonald was used in the run-up and the relay later won the silver medal in the final. In 2017 he took part with the relay at the World Championships in London, but surprisingly dropped out with 3: 01.98 min in the lead-up . In 2018 he again took part in the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast , where he reached the final over 400 meters, in which he could not compete due to an injury.
