The Ruta 2 Grito de Asencio , is a national road in Uruguay . It was named in 1983 after a coup in 1811 in what is now Uruguay against the Spanish rule that still existed at the time (German cry of Asencio ).
The 180-kilometer road with the Corredor Internacional classification starts on Ruta 1 south of Rosario. From there it leads via Rosario , Cardona and Mercedes to Fray Bentos . Shortly before Fray Bentos, a branching route leads to the Puente Libertador General San Martín over the Río Uruguay to Argentina .
