List of national roads in Uruguay
This list contains an overview of the Rutas Nacionales del Uruguay , the Uruguayan highways .
They are the most important transport routes in the country and connect the most important places. This road network with a total length of 8,698 kilometers has 303 kilometers of concrete, 3,164 kilometers of asphalt, 4,220 kilometers of bitumen-treated and 1009 kilometers of natural road surfaces.
Numbering and naming of the individual streets
The Rutas Nacionales in Uruguay bear the names of personalities from the country's history, often military commanders. The Ruta Interbalnearia is not numbered.

Classification of the streets
The Uruguayan Ministry of Transport (Ministerio de Transporte y Obras Públicas) makes the following classifications for the country's roads:

Corredor Internacional
Roads that connect Montevideo to the country's border crossings. The road surface is either concrete or asphalt.
