The Ruta 3 , also known as General Elizardo Aquino , is a trunk road in Paraguay. The road connects the capital Asunción with Bella Vista on the border with Brazil. It is one of the most important north-south axes in north-eastern Paraguay. The RN 3 is 475 km long.

Street description

The RN3 begins in the capital Asunción and has 2 × 2 lanes in the core city and 2 × 3 lanes in the northern suburbs and suburbs. The RN 9 is crossed in the north of Asunción. After leaving the city, the road becomes single lane. The road initially leads east to San Estanislao and runs through flat agricultural areas with little afforestation. It leads north from San Estanislao and is the only continuous north-south route in this part of Paraguay. However, there are only a few places along the way. This is the transition area of the Cerrado in the Gran Chaco . After Yby Yaú, the road runs about 40 kilometers along with the RN 5 on a shared route. The road ends at the border with Brazil in Bella Vista, where the Brazilian BR-060 begins, which leads to Campo Grande .

history

The RN3 is traditionally the most important connection between Asunción and northeast Paraguay. The RN 3 is the only main road from the south to Yby Yaú, the northernmost part of the road is not yet paved. The connection of the RN 5 near Dourados is therefore an important route to Brazil via the RN 3.
